Bidisha: A Sublime Expression of Misogynistic Exasperation
"Bidisha" painting by Bipad
About "Bidisha"
Bipad. K’s contemporary work of art fulfills the fuming rage of catastrophe that was exposed in the structure since time immemorial. It captures the anguish of a woman who has been tormented in the rooster coop of life yet when she tries to scream the atrocity out of her flesh; the ashes of brutality ingrained in her soul are watering out of her eyes. It’s in the smoldered lashes of her eyes, the impoverished curve of her nose, the bent of her surreptitiously tormented lips, none of these lineaments exist on her face and that’s what the portrait is masking.
The painting is suggesting the already accumulated soreness by hiding any shred of exhibitionistic splendor that a woman conventionally embodies. In the words of Cesar A. Cruz, the Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. Bipad. K’s contemporary portrayal of a suppressed yarn is justified by the stroke of golden drops inside Bidisha’s eyes.
